This comic was started around November 2002, in conjunction with Nate Horsfall and Brandon Witte. It's based off Role Playing (RP) characters, over the years that were played out in AOL chatrooms. It's something like a never-ending novel or story. Anyway, the comic strip started as something for the guild they belonged to (FotHB), and was added as an insert into their weekly newsletter. Because of this, many of the jokes won't be easily understood by the general public. But those involved still hope it's simple enough to get a laugh anyway.

Originally, it was set up to be a partnership where they would alternate comics every other week. Due to medical complications however, Brandon was unable to keep with the original plan. Months later, after a serious car accident, Brandon had to leave the comic.

Nate carried the strip for a little while, but really needed to have another person helping him with it, since that was the original plan. It wasn't hard to find someone else. Ali Floyd, one of Nate's longest Internet friends, was also a very good artist. The choice was obvious, and Ali gladly joined on.

Currently, the two friends work together as best they can to keep up the updating schedule of one every week. The interesting thing about these two working together is that you have two different styles for one comic. Nate's style varies drastically from Ali's, and visa versa. It's an interesting thing to see the exact same character drawn by two different artists in different situations. Occasionally though, someone else will submit a strip. Like a guest strip of sorts, or someone else might write one. Or Nate might write one and Ali draws it, etc. It's quite random, but don't worry because whoever does what, is always posted under the comic! And as long as interest remains with both artists and the "fans", the strip will continue to run for years to come.

Now rewind back a bit, are we having fun? So I FORGOT to talk about how I got started in the whole guild thing and etc. Well, basically I stumbled across a chat room that people were RPing in and I loved it. Later on I met up with Ali and we became fast friends, got out own story going, and over the years have helped each other out tons with the artwork. Fox's ears, were 90% inspired from a fan art piece he did for me. So yup, I help him and he helps me and it's good times. I originally started this comic with Brandon, another guild friend, to help him out with drawing and give him something to do. I was trying to start something up that he could contribute to and hopefully enjoy. But things got bad for him, and he had to leave it. Getting Ali was so easy of a choice, and I'm glad he went for it. I can't say how long this thing will last, but I have and WILL keep it going for as long as I enjoy it, and have the time to.

Almost forgetting someone, though, and that's Victor, who I've known for a good amount of time. Victor is the webmaster for this site, and for our old one, AND for the guild site as well. He's done a bunch of projects like this for me. I send him graphics and content, and he, as he says, "puts it all up nice and pretty for the world to see". He's hugely into UT2k4 (Unreal Tournament 2004) and very much enjoys stomping on me and bragging about it till his fingers fall off. Which, normally you'd think, WHY play him then? And I'll tell ya, I don't care too much about winning but if I DO, he has a fit, and it's all worth it! Sorry, kinda off track here. I've known him for awhile and he helps with stuff, especially more complex web design, since my own site is just an EZ builder. It's very good to have that help.

So my name's Nate Horsfall and I was born May 6, 1981. I've been drawing basically my whole life.. as long as I can remember anyway. Always used to be really into backgrounds and drawing from life. Then here comes computers.. I was kind of fascinated by that stuff. I used to play around with Mario Paint for hours and hours.. Then even started taking games that were around and making duplicate screenshots of them with ClarisWorks (like Star Fox). Then I got my hands on Photoshop around high school, and loved that.. So Now I have my love of drawing, and my love of the digital art. Then right around the end of high school, I pretty much randomly decided to go into computer animation. I say randomly because at the time, I sucked at drawing characters, and I had never done any REAL animation outside of flip books and good ol' Mario Paint. But I had seen some awesome 3d Videos from the school I was interested in (Art Institute of Pittsburgh), and wanted to give it a try. Also, back then Final Fantasy VII had just recently come out, and it was the first time I had seen really amazing CG movies in games. Very Inspiring.

So yeah, I went through AIP and it was a helluva lot of work and blah blah blah. But then I got all the skills I needed. I became exponentially better at drawing characters, and found out that animation is actually my best skill.. or one of the best. Which is funny considering I didn't even get into it until later in life.

Fast forward to now, where I ended up working for a post house production company that works on games. What games? Well.. Rise to Honor, Mythica, Sudeki, Legacy of Kain: Defiance, Whiplash, and True Crime, just to name a few. I left that company after about a year, and worked on two Incredibles videogames. Currently I am unemployed and open to any contract and commission work.

Last thing to note is that since this is by no means my "job", I don't have a rock solid updating schedule with it. We TRY for every week, but sometimes things come up. And also, it's not the cleanest looking comic out there, but again.. I already use up my little free time to work on it, so just enjoy what's there and don't complain, yeah? Oh right and.. I hope you DO enjoy it! And if you like what you see, be sure to check out mine AND Ali's site. Mine has basically everything I've ever done.. and Ali.. well, he's working on it. Now get outa here!

Hi! My name's Alfred Ali Floyd, although I most openly go by Ali. I was born on October 6, 1984 (feel free to do the math), and at the moment, I live in Owings Mills , Maryland , although I'm a native New Yorker from the Bronx . I've been drawing since I was pretty young. Maybe about age 5 being the earliest. Of course, being so young, drawings would always look like total crap to everyone else. But eventually, I started taking my drawings a little bit more seriously as I got older. I began paying a lot more attention to proportions are around age 10 or 11. What helped me out, the most, though, was my fascination for three different video games: Super Mario Bros., Mega Man, and Sonic the Hedgehog.

During school, I'd doodle very often, and every now and then, actually drew up little comics based on those three series. Mario was the first, and I'd gotten tired of the fact that my original Mario kept appearing as a stick figure with a hat (which came with a cheaply written "M" on it) and a mustache. I wanted this look to change, and so I began to take a closer note of how chubby Mario actually is. He then turned into a bit of a ball, then the arms and legs showed up, but that wouldn't go without his coveralls. Shoes were a little hard for me to deal with back then, but over time, I got that as well.

After learning more about the shapes of these figures I was drawing, I eventually started some more comics. They became my personal projects throughout my elementary and middle school years. They'd made very little sense, since I was still in the practice of writing, but wasn't very good at planning everything out ahead of time. But I still loved working on my comics. These later comics were a series based closely from the world of Mega Man, and included a few non-Mega Man-related characters which I'd created in 1995. A little bit of Chrono Trigger, another game (and one of my favorites, now), was involved with the comic, as well, but not heavily at all.

It was 1996, when I'd met Nate while role-playing online. Not only did I become friends with him through that, but we also both found out we had a thing for drawing. Being a little older than me, and obviously more serious about his artwork, Nate kind've unofficially became my art mentor, and occasionally gave me art tips, and helpfully critiqued my pictures, which proved to advance my drawing skills quite a bit. All I need to do is follow his steps, a little, though, by attending an art school. Since I'm not that highly experienced with some of the things he's done before (not to mention becoming a professional animator), I still find that I have a ways to go before I can even think about "competing" with his artwork, even though there are SOME drawing departments I have proven to be sharper about than he is. =P

I've become the most recent of the regulars that are usually involved with this comic, and that's why I'm here, now. In some of the strips appears an odd character named Eg. He's my random creation which I plan to use as a bit of bizarre, vulgar comic relief from time to time. But I'm going to avoid using him too often, because this comic is based off the role-play guild we're a part of, Fellowship of the Holy Beacon. For now, I just hope to keep my normal character, Hikari, involved in the mishaps which go on in the comic. Let's see if, one of these days, I actually manage to steal the show from Fox, and crew. Bwahaha!
